Haworth

Haworth is an idyllic suburb that was once a recreation area for many socialites from New York City because of the rolling greenery and several ponds that dot the landscape.  Today it offers residents many community recreation leagues, and is home to two golf courses, clay tennis courts, and a duck pond with beautiful landscaping that will be upgraded in coming years. Haworth also is home to the Haworth Swim Club, the oldest swim club in Bergen County, and several houses of worship.  The Recreation committee sponsors several annual celebrations that bring this tight-knit but welcoming community together. There is a small business district with banks, restaurants, medical offices, and other offices.

It is located approximately thirty minutes from New York City and fifteen minutes from Rockland County, New York. Haworth is home to approximately 3,400 residents in 2.4 square miles, making the community a bit less urban than most cities and towns in Bergen County.  Housing in Haworth is primarily upscale single-family, detached dwellings located on quiet tree-lined streets.

Due to the community’s close proximity to the George Washington Bridge, commuting from Haworth into Manhattan can be done by driving or by taking one of several buses or trains that depart daily from several park and rides in Haworth, as well as neighboring towns.

The Haworth School System is one of the best in the state.  Students in Haworth attend the Haworth Public Schools, which serve students in kindergarten through eighth grade. High school students in grades nine through twelve attend the Northern Valley Regional High School at Demarest, located in nearby Demarest.  Northern Valley consistently ranks very high, and in 2009 ranked 378th in Newsweek’s rankings for the top 1500 schools in the United States.  The school was awarded a Blue Ribbon School Award of Excellence by the United States Department of Education, the highest award a school can receive.  The school also boasts award winning music and athletic programs.

With a large amount of recreation opportunities, a variety of homes for sale and a convenient yet quiet location, Haworth is a popular choice for those looking for real estate in Bergen County.
